can i play 4 string bass guitar if ive been playing viola 2 years?
I mean like if playin the bass guitar is same as pizzacotto on a viola. If not how much practice would i need and stuff. Im planning on playing bass in a band and Im wondering if i need more skills then just standing there and plucking the minor notes and the same ones the guitarists makes.
Of course you can play the fretless bass!
It just takes time and practice, like any instrument. The good news is that some of the skills you’ve learnt are transferable – to an extent – onto the fretless bass. I played acoustic and electric guitar for two years then picked up bass and I developed VERY quickly by comparison. This is going back 10 years or so. Bear in mind also the musical knowledge you’ve gained from one instrument means learning new concepts on another instrument become much easier too.
This isn’t to say you’ll become the next Jaco overnight, but through the beginning stages you’re more likely to make quicker progress than usual.
I’ve taught many people both guitar and bass, and the ones who are really good at one instrument (in the case of two high school girls, one on violin and the other piano, both instrument grade 
made very impressive progress.
