How can I learn how to play electric guitar besides getting a teacher?
Ok so I took guitar lessons last year but dropped out because I hated the fact that I had to do it when I was in no mood for it, and I had to follow a strict practice 2 hours a day or I won’t be your teacher anymore thing. So I was wandering if there is any way to learn how to play electric guitar by myself using the internet. I have a BC Rich Warlock and a Fender Amp. I kinda forgot everything I learned last year because I haven’t played in so long. I’m more into metal stuff like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Black Sabbath etc. but I love bands like AC/DC. Also I’m 15.
You can get started in playing metal songs pretty quickly, since all you need to do is strum power chords with distortion. Here is a video lesson that deals with power chords: http://www.theguitarlesson.com/free-guitar-lessons/basic-lessons/basic-guitar-lesson-9
Make sure you learn other techniques as well, power chords won’t take you very far in the long run.

Blues Guitar Lesson Anthology
$12.43 This is not a guitar method book or everything you need to know about blues guitar. It''s a collection of lessons that have withstood the test of time and have been appreciated by students over three decades. With a mix of beginner, intermediate, and advanced skill levels, everyone will find something they can use. The lessons are organized into blocks. First are the grooves, basic rhythms of the blues. Paula Cole has released her most recent CD entitled Harbinger.
Harbinger opens with an outstanding track, Happy Home, that I anticipate will be heard on radio stations everywhere, and deservedly so. It’s a really nice track.
Harbinger is a pleasantly varied, mix of 14 tracks that are very well written songs by this clearly superb artist. Most of the songs display a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Seemingly drawing from what I can only imagine are her own real life experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions like love, and the pain of failed relationships can certainly be heard.
If you’re a Paula Cole fan this is a CD your collection flat cannot be without. In fact, this is one of those CDs that you don’t even have to be a fan of Cole, or even Rock to know is good. It’s just good music. Period.
While this entire CD is outstanding the truly standout tunes are track 4 – Watch The Woman’s Hands, track 12 – She Can’t Feel Anything Anymore, and track 14 – The Ladder.
My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1 – Happy Home. Great track!
