Should I learn to play the drum coupled to the grip or traditional grip?
I a snare drum and I decided I'm going to show me how to play before you go buy a whole. Finally, I have some death metal drums, For example, the blast beats beneath the feet of double inclination, and quickly filled. I also want to be able to play jazz is improvisation and syncopation. Basically, I want to be able to play all styles on the ends of the spectrum, should start with the handle matched or traditional grip? If I can begin to make the transition easier for traditional bound? And if someone could connect me with some links to lessons that would be nice, thank you.
I would say learn paired. Ive played both. I was taught to play paired When I took drum lessons, but when I played in Drumline, we use traditional. I think I have found no advantage to using traditional grip. It's easier to play matched by sitting on a battery too. My suggestion would be: learn using matched grip. train both hands also, perhaps, give a little more attention to their nondominant hand. then when you get a hand while playing practice open - ie, instead of crossing your right hand on your left to play charley, just cross your arms and to keep pace with its charley left and ride with the right rhythm. This not only will you learn to become abidextrous, but also leave you more options when it comes to fodder, installation kit, rudiments, etc. Good luck!
